This website address is: https://michaelkupietz.com. It is the showcase website for creative works by artist and technologist Mike Kupietz, the owner and author of this site, hereinafter referred to as "Mike".

I. Mike's Commitment To Your Privacy And Right Not To Be Abused For Commercial Purposes

This site is noncommercial and intended 1.) primarily for Mike's entertainment; and 2.) secondarily for yours. No commercial use of your identifying information or resources is ever knowingly made by Mike. Those information and resources are never knowingly shared with others by Mike, except as necessary to resolve technical issues hindering the proper functioning of this site.

Much of this site runs on code personally authored or audited by Mike. The guarantees in this section II pertain to that code.

What Information About You Mike's Own Authored Code Collects

This site logs standard http header information when you access it: referring page, your public IP address, etc. This information is kept indefinitely for purposes of troubleshooting server performance. Your general physical location, on the town or city level, may be revealed by your IP address.

What Information About You Mike's Own Authored Code Shares With Anyone Else

Information collected as described above is visible to Mike. It is not shared with anyone else.

What Information Mike's Own Authored Code Saves On Your Computer

Some of the front-end widgets may save position or visual settings information about elements displayed in the web page you view in your browser's local storage, for purposes of recreating screen layouts or visual settings as you navigate through the site. This information is saved per-tab and only readable by this site, and only within the original tab you opened this site on. It is stored in such a way as to instruct your browser to delete it when the tab is closed.

Server Security

The web server serving this site is wholy owned by Mike and hosts nobody else's websites. It is physically situated in a secure location controlled by Mike, behind a firewall and network devices also controlled by Mike.

Third Party Software And Services

Content Management System

This site runs on the WordPress content management system. WordPress is open source. Mike has not audited WordPress himself for privacy or security and makes no guarantees regarding it.

Analytics

This site may contain analytics scripts or images from sites such as Ahrefs.com or other sites, solely for purposes of the site owner understanding how users use the site, which pages are popular, etc. These services may collect use cookies or other techniques to track your use of the site, or may leave cookies or other local storage in your browser.

Plugins

This site uses third-party WordPress plugins to add functionality and make this site more useful and fun. Every effort is made to ensure plugins do not track or abuse your information or your browser's local storage, but no guarantee is made.

Theme

This site's theme is built on top of a third-party WordPress theme called "Sinatra", which you may download and inspect at https://wordpress.org/themes/sinatra/. To Mike's knowledge, this theme does not collect or transmit any information from you, or leave any information on your computer. All extensions and customizations to Sinatra used on this site were custom authored by Mike and are subject to the guarantees in section II.

Media From Other Sites

When you browse the image galleries on this site, some image contents may be served from Flickr via their API. In this case Flickr may receive the standard information transmitted in http headers: referrer, your IP address, etc.

Backups

The server is backed up onto the servers of a reputable, well-known third party backup service with a strong privacy orientation. These backups contain the web server's logs of your visit. However, the backups are encrypted and readable using only Mike's key.

Proxy, And Other, Services

To increase performance and safeguard against malicious activity, public access to the site is tunneled through Cloudflare's reverse proxy. You may also be accessing this site through other internet services located outside of Mike's network and server location. Your interaction with the site, and the collection use of your identifiable information such as IP address and browsing path through the site, may be governed by CloudFlare's or those other internet service providers' privacy policies.

Mike's Intentions And Efforts Regarding The Third-Party Software And Service Used by This Site

The entire purpose of third-party scripts, images, code, media, plugins, and services is to make the site more usable for you, the user. No commercial use of your information is knowingly allowed by in connection with your use this site. However, as it is not always possible to fully examine third-party software and services that provide useful functionality, third party services are not covered by the guarantees in section II above.

However, wherever possible, Mike has endeavored to use code he wrote himself rather than rely on third-party code and services, to maintain maximum control and bring as much of the site's functionality as possible under the guarantees in section II.

TL;DR

I don't care about your information. What I do know or save about my site's visitors is solely to help me run the site more reliably or improve it for users. However, while I make every attempt to safeguard your privacy and the use of your private resources, I can make no guarantee about the third party software or services which used on this site with the intent of helping make it more enjoyable.
